CRAFTY HO'S - RECIPE CHALLENGE - BLING, LUSH RIBBON, FLOURISHES

Another AWESOME challenge starts today at CRAFTY HOS' CHALLENGE.  This week we have a recipe challenge - we're using BLING, LUSH RIBBON and FLOURISHES.  Make sure you head over to CRAFTY HOS' to check out the WONDERFUL DT projects and also to enter your own creation!
I used this AMAZING image from BUGABOO.  This is the character JJ and this is from the calendar months collection of JJ.  This is the June image.   My babysitter's former HS teacher got married over the weekend so I made this card for her.  I think it turned out pretty cool.  I used SU basic black and metallic silver for the base and 2nd layer.  Embossed the silver with a Sizzix EF (my flourishes).  I really like this EF!  My bling is pearls from e. by Prima, stickles and Atyou Spicas which I used to decorate JJ.  I also did some coloring with my Copics.  My lush ribbon is something I found loose in my ribbon box.  I really had fun making this card, I hope you like it.  Let me know what you think:)

This card also fit the challenge at PAPER GARDEN PROJECTS which is for a feminine and frilly creation.

NEW RELEASE DAY AT BUGABOO!!

It's Tuesday, so that means a NEW RELEASE at BUGABOO STAMPS!  This week Jodie has come up with fun block images of Stella wearing her red hat and accompanied by VERY FUNNY sentiments:)  Make sure you visit BUGABOO BLOG so you can check out the work of the other DT members for this week'd New Release.  They always do an AMAZING job!
For my card, I chose to use the pre-colored image that is offered as part of the "Red Hat Mama" set.  I have never used a pre-colored image from BUGABOO before, so it was great fun to try something new.  I did color the hair using Copics C2, C4, but everything else is pre-colored.  I printed out the image in 4 different sizes and then layered them.  Another new technique I'd been wanting to try and I think it came out pretty cool:)   Paper is Core-dinations, Bo Bunny, Prism and Color Mates and DP is basic grey.  Button flowers are Sassafras Lass.  This card also follows sketch #33 from Paper Works Co..  Thanks so much for looking and don't forget to head over to BUGABOO STORE to pick up some new images!!  Also, let me know what you think:)

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY AT SHELLY'S IMAGES!

I have 2 techniques to share with you today and both involve Embossing Folders.  The first folder I used is from Sizzix and the other 2 are from Cuttlebug.  My first technique involves using one piece of paper for both your image and your background.  I printed out the image and trimmed the paper to 4 x 5.25 inches.  Then, I cut out the image using nesties.
Next, I took my Sizzix Embosing folder and ran the rest of the paper through the Big Shot.  Finally, I put the center piece back in, so it looks like the picture on the right.
Then, I colored the SHELLY'S IMAGES image with Copics, daubed the embossed flowers and edges of the image with SU Melon Mambo and mounted it on SU melon mambo CS.  Finally, I stamped an Artful Inkables sentiment using SU Melon mambo on core-dinations vintage green paper and cut out with SU punch.  The result is a card that looks pretty complicated, but as you can see, it's quite simple and fun!!!
Next technique I am going to share with you today uses 2 Cuttlebug folders.  Try for one with a subtle pattern all the way through (the dots) and the other one with a larger, bolder pattern that does not cover the entire folder/paper (the flower one).  So first you run the image that you want to be least prominent through the Big Shot (first image of orange paper).  Next, you run the image that you want to be more prominent.  So you can see on the paper on the left, there is a nice imprint of the flower pattern and the subtle pattern of the dots which adds a bit of extra texture to the paper.
Then, I mounted the paper on CS, in this case core-dinations vintage green.  Embossed impressions are on SU pumpkin pie.  Then you can add your image, etc.  I used this SUPER SHELLY'S IMAGE (decided to stick with the umbrella theme), which I colored with Copics and Atyou Spicas.  Then I cut the image out with scissors and stamped Hampton Art sentiment on SU more mustard with SU garden green ink.  Again, another very simple and fun technique that looks cool and like it took hours:)  I also realized that I have used no DP so far this week and that my first card fits into SHELLY'S IMAGES current challenge, which is to use a white background for your card!
I hope these techniques have provided some inspiration for you!  Please let us know what you think!  All images can be found at SHELLY'S IMAGES STORE and this tutorial can also be found on SHELLY'S IMAGES BLOG.

For my card, I decided to make a window card using a Movers and Shapers die from Sizzix.  If you've never used one before, you should definitely try them, they're so fun!  I chose this great image from BUGABOO STAMPS to use on the card and the sentiments are computer generated and punched out using EK Success and SU punches.  Edges of round sentiment daubed with SU orchid opulance.  CS is Bazzill textured from monochromatic pack.  Ribbon is from Michael's and DP is SU.

Image is colored with Copics and bling is from Queen & co.  Thanks so much for looking and please let me know what you think!!

THE CHARACTER CAFE FEATURE FRIDAY!

It's time for FEATURE FRIDAY challenge at THE CHARACTER CAFE!  Make sure you head on over to CHARACTER CAFE BLOG so you can check out all the DT projects and also so you can enter this week's challenge!  If you need some images, you can find the CAFE STORE right HERE.

Our challenge this week is reuse/recycle - find an object in your home and use it in your card.  It can be a pop top, a paper clip, belt buckle, you name it!!  Be creative and most importanly, have fun!!

For my project, I found an old refrigerator magnet from my kids' preschool with the 2007-08 school year calendar on it.  I also had set aside this envelope from a Discover card promotion.

I took the envelope and put it through the Xyron to get the entire back of it to be an adhesive.  Then I stuck it onto the magnet and trim to fit.  Next, I punched out all the frogs and reeds from THE CHARACTER CAFE pond frogs image set using SU and EK Success punches.   I printed them in different sizes so they all looked different.  I colored them with Copics and Gelly Roll Stardust pens and used Doodlebug flock on the tops of the reeds.  Sentiment is computer generated, cut with SU punch and daubed with SU gable green ink.  All white CS is GP 110.  I colored some of the edges of the punch outs with Copics for a bit extra color.  Then, I stuck it on my magnetic board outside my room:)

I hope you like it, please let me know:)
This project also fits with the following challenges:
Delightful Sketches - use punches
Crazy4Challenges - Inspiration based on "Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails..."

SOFTPENCIL THURSDAY - FLOWERS FOR MY BUNNY MOM

Hello everyone!!  Hope everyone is doing well today.  It is actually not raining here at the moment, which is nice because it has rained a lot since Monday night.  I think I have FINALLY overcome my lack of mojo issues that have plagued me for the last 2 days, so YAY!!  Btw, only 9 more followers before we get to 175!!

First of all, CONGRATS to MARIE B. who is my SOFTPENCIL BLOG HOP winner.  Marie won the image that I used in the hop - Flowers for my mom:)

Next is my weekly offering for SOFTPENCIL THURSDAY, but before I get to that, I want to remind you to check out the SOFTPENCIL BLOG, and also the SOFTPENCIL SHOP.  Since it's our ANNIVERSARY all month long, there's still LOTS going on this month, including our BIG customer and DT blog hop on the 27th!!  Finally, another SPECIAL happening right now is that our DT Member Melissa is hosting a SOFTPENCIL COLOR CHALLENGE on PCP - you can find it HERE

I decided this week to make a Gift Tag.  I think this image works AWESOME for a gift tag!  I colored the bunnies and grass with Copics.  The butterfly is done with Gelly Roll Stardust pens.  The flowers

are done with Stickles and the trim on Momma bunny's dress is done with liquid pearl.  Sentiment is from SU and stamped in SU pixie pink ink.  White CS is GP 110 and DP is K&Company.  Both image and backing are cut with nesties.  Ribbon is organdy from JoAnn.  Thanks so much for looking1  I hope you like it:)

AI FACTORY CHALLENGE - CELEBRATION & SPARKLE!

This week is our first challenge at AI FACTORY as a new DT!  Our theme this week is Celebration and Sparkle.  So our cards are to celebrate something and have sparkle!!  Before I share my card with you, I want to give you some places to visit:)  Make sure you stop by AI FACTORY CHALLENGES to link your creation for this challenge.  It is not necessary to use AIFactory images, but it would be cool if you did!  You can find our images at AI FACTORY SHOP, you'll also find lots of FREEBIES here:)

For my card, I chose this BEAUTIFUL coffee cup image from AI Factory and colored it with Copics and Gelly Roll Stardust pens.  I used SU white chunky glitter for the latte part.  The sentiment is also from AI Factory, and I printed it in black and then traced over it with Gelly Roll Stardust pen.  Image and sentiment are printed on GP white 110 and cut with nesties.  Sentiment is daubed with SU pixie pink ink.  Ribbon is from Stamping Bella.  Solid CS is SU chocolate chip.  I do not remember what company the DP is from.

I used Sketch 63 from CARD PATTERNS.  Thanks for a GREAT sketch!!  Thanks to everyone for looking and please share your thoughts with me on my project:)
